Refund Policy

Overview

This policy covers purchases made directly through the WriterBar app — licenses, cloud subscriptions, and credit top-ups. We back WriterBar with a genuine money-back guarantee because we want you to be confident in what you paid for, while keeping the guarantee fair to use.

Refund windows

  • One-time licenses (Standard, Pro) — 14 days from the date of purchase
  • Monthly cloud subscription — 14 days from your first charge
  • Annual cloud subscription — 30 days from your first charge
  • Credit top-ups — 14 days from purchase, provided the credits are still unused

After the window

  • Annual subscriptions — a pro-rated refund may still be considered case by case
  • Monthly subscriptions — you can cancel to stop future billing; the current period itself is not refunded
  • Licenses and top-ups — generally final, except where a fault on our end is responsible, or to correct a genuine billing error

If you are on the free trial

Every account starts with a one-time trial credit grant so you can try WriterBar before paying. If you purchase a paid plan and request a refund immediately after using most or all of a trial or paid credit balance, we will evaluate that case by case rather than approve it automatically — the guarantee is meant for trying WriterBar in good faith, not for using it in full and then asking for the money back.

Valid reasons

  • A macOS or hardware compatibility problem
  • An accidental or duplicate purchase
  • A billing error or incorrect charge
  • You purchased but never received access

What we will not refund

  • Requests made after the window above, aside from the case-by-case exceptions noted
  • Repeated or patterned refund requests that look like abuse of this guarantee
  • Purchases tied to a violation of our Terms of Service
  • Charges already disputed as a chargeback with your bank — resolve the chargeback first; we cannot refund a charge your bank is separately reversing
  • Heavy usage well past what a reasonable trial would need, followed by a change-of-mind request

How to request a refund

Email support@writerbar.app with:

  • The email address on your WriterBar account
  • What you purchased and the purchase date
  • The reason for your request

We reply within 1–2 business days with our decision. If you disagree with it, reply to that email and ask for a second look — we will re-review within a further 2 business days.

Cancelling without requesting a refund

If you only want to stop future billing, you do not need to email us. Your subscription is billed through Paddle, and Paddle includes a self-service cancellation link in every purchase and renewal email it sends you. Cancelling stops the next charge — it does not refund the period you are currently in, and you keep access until that period ends. You can resubscribe at any time.

How approved refunds are paid out

  • Mac — billed through Paddle.com, our merchant of record. Once we approve a refund, Paddle returns the money to your original payment method. Exact timing depends on your card issuer or bank rather than on us.
  • iOS (when available) — Apple bills and refunds these directly. Request them at reportaproblem.apple.com; we cannot issue an App Store refund ourselves.

What happens to your access

Once a refund is processed, any credits or plan access granted by that purchase are removed, and a refunded license reverts your account to the free trial tier. You will receive confirmation once this is done.

Your statutory rights

Nothing here limits rights you already have under consumer-protection law in your country — including the European Union, United Kingdom, or elsewhere — for things like faulty digital products or misrepresentation. Where local law gives you a right this policy does not mention, that law applies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy over time; the "last updated" date on this page reflects the latest version. If we make a material change, we will aim to notify active subscribers by email.
