Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service govern your use of the WriterBar apps for macOS and iOS, the writerbar.app website, and the cloud services behind them (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the Service.

2. What WriterBar Does

WriterBar lets you select text in almost any application and have it rewritten, improved, or transformed by AI. The Service includes the apps, built-in AI processing routed through our servers, account features such as device sync for custom actions and snippets, and customer support.

3. Your Account

You need an account to use WriterBar, including the free tier. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials to yourself, and tell us promptly if you suspect someone else is using your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your login. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.

4. Plans, Credits, and Billing

Free tier. Every account starts with a one-time trial credit grant so you can try WriterBar before paying, usable on a single device. Trial credits don't renew or reset.

One-time licenses. Standard and Pro are one-time purchases, each unlocking all AI models, bringing your own API keys, Apple Intelligence on-device, device sync, and a bundled one-time credit grant. Pro also includes a year of the WriterBar Cloud subscription below at no extra cost. Current pricing, credit amounts, and device limits are shown on our pricing page, which forms part of these terms.

WriterBar Cloud. A separate recurring subscription (monthly or yearly) that grants a monthly credit allowance for using WriterBar's built-in AI. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.

Top-ups. One-time credit packs may be purchased inside the app. Top-up credits do not expire — and neither do credits from any other source.

Billing and refunds. On Mac, purchases are billed by Paddle.com, our merchant of record, under Paddle's payment terms. On iOS, when available, purchases are billed by the Apple App Store under Apple's payment terms instead. See our Refund Policy for exactly how to cancel or request a refund on each platform.

We may change prices or plan structures going forward; changes never apply retroactively to time you have already paid for.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to break the law, infringe the rights of others, or generate content designed to harm, deceive, or harass. You also agree not to probe or disrupt our infrastructure, resell the Service, share one account across a team, bypass credit or device limits, or reverse engineer the apps except where the law expressly permits it. We may rate-limit or suspend usage that threatens the stability or fairness of the Service.

6. AI-Generated Content

Rewrites are produced by third-party AI models. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purpose, and the same input may produce different results over time. You are responsible for reviewing anything the Service produces before you rely on it or publish it. We make no promises about the accuracy or fitness of AI output.

7. Your Content and Our Property

The text you submit and the rewrites you accept are yours; we claim no ownership of them. You grant us only the narrow, temporary right to transmit your text to an AI provider and return the result — see our Privacy Policy for how that works (we do not store it). The apps, website, branding, and everything else that makes up the Service belong to us or our licensors. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we handle and how. It is part of these terms.

9. Availability and Changes to the Service

We work to keep WriterBar reliable, but the Service is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability — outages, maintenance, and dependency failures (including AI providers) can occur. We may add, change, or retire features over time. If we ever discontinue the Service entirely, we will give active subscribers reasonable notice.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, with notice where practical. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 6, 7, 10, and 11) do survive.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. For material changes we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

Nothing in this section takes away protections you have under the mandatory consumer-protection law of the country you live in. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or anywhere else whose law gives you rights that cannot be waived by agreement, those rights continue to apply alongside these terms, and you may also bring proceedings in your local courts where that law entitles you to.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in force, and the unenforceable provision applies only to the extent the law allows.
